PREVIOUS GIGS

Saturday 24th March Classic Grand - Semi-Final

Another 8 bands, higher calibre, bigger venue and more expensive tickets. The main room in Classic Grand was going to take a big crowd to fill it, a healthy crowd rolled in but failed to meet the required mass. A whole host of styles, some good mixed in with some small pieces of shite. Kaster opened their set with 'I Know' followed with the soaring anthem 'Mine'. Colin was in his element, relishing what might have been the last chance to show everyone how much Bon Jovi he really listened to. Bass Barnes, having smoked his own weight in grass prior to the gig, delivered his usual mellow but solid set.

Kaster came second on the night and the Carling Academy shed a tear in anticipation for Kasters epic arrival to the Emergenza final. Come on Kaster!

Friday 9th Feb 2007 Ivory Blacks - Round 1

The first round of the famous Emergenza competition saw eight bands take to the stage at what can only be described as a 'sell-out' gig. There was some relatively strong competition and the night had a real energized atmosphere with the added injection of mans' competitive nature. Earlier in the week, Matt announced he had accepted a job in Horsham and hence the band could only be continued on a limited basis in its current form after March. Needless to say everyone was gutted, especially Andy who earlier that night, had had his sleeping bag stolen. The knowledge that this may be the last one brought passion and inevitable tension, mostly felt by Craig who unleashed a catalouge of mighty f*ckups, which as we speak are still being fully documented before going to press. The sheer love for the band, the connection with the songs and the devoted followers meant that mistakes were not merely overlooked, but added to the nights experience...Kaster won the round and in a strange twist of fate, the one thing which created the outstanding performance, the fear of the end, meant real closure was forced into the future.

Friday Feb 2nd 2007 Strathclyde Union

A sizeable venue which promised to be busy being a student union on a friday. Kaster were last on the bill so suffered somewhat from a depleted audience. Still, the hardcore fans were treated to two new songs written in January, 'I Know' and 'Miss January', the latter of which proving to be an instant hit. At least Matt finally got to use his Korg Micro which despite much 'fannying' around finally fitted a song. These two gems are to be recorded soon. Craig belted out a solid drum set despite missing a tom which to to Craig is somewhat akin to missing a bollock.

Sunday Nov 26th 2006 Classic Grand

Considered by many to be one of the best small gig venues in Glasgow today, fans and bands were not disappointed with the professional surroundings and manner of all those involved. The setting was just right for Kaster to belt out a passionate set, summed up by the anonymous fan dribbling 'it is nice..' every two minutes obviously having frequented the cinema to see Borat hours before (no doubt to crack one off). A few strong bands and overall an enjoyable night for all.

Tuesday Nov 14th 2006 Barfly

Kaster's slight return to Barfly. Playing up the stair this time and all! Kaster supported the New York band Dufus, who made a whole host of strange noises throughout their set, reminiscent of the time Bass Barnes' kidnapped a stray gerbil. We also shared the bill with the Darlings, onlookers remained oblivious to the tragic love story that had previously unfolded, while Matt's broken heart shone through in another intense vocal performance. Kaster as a whole getting more polished by the gig.

The Vale - Thursday 26th October

Goat @ The Vale
5-7, Dundas St, Glasgow
A small but intersting one this one. Kaster showed up for this one (amps under our wee arms and everything) ready to rock the mo-fo house down as usual. "Where do I plug in?" Colin said, "Im a lean, mean RRRRRRRRROCKIN machine".

Only to be informed that Goat at the Vale was in fact an accoustic session. Man if you'd seen wee Craig's petted lip starting to go when Travis told him about the 'Nae Sticks, only Brushes' policy.

But did we greet. Nope. Did we give it all we had. Hell yeah! Did the quality of our tunes SHIIIINE through. Yer damn right. Everyone that witnessed the phenomenon of Kaster playing understated thoroughly enjoyed the show. Many even said that we should consider playin at that volume more often. Maybe Travis knew something we didnt...

Cheers to Travis for havin us along to what was a quality night with some top bands. High Water were soundin hot just the two of them. We're gonna check out their full on stuff.

Rufus T. Firefly - Tuesday 17th October

Another top notch gig put on by PodBoy. Cheers guys and cheers to all who came along as usual. Peace..

Debating Chamber at Glasgow University Union - Thu 5th October

Kaster 'did one for the kids' last Thursday. Despite a dissapointing setup on the night (man, what us unsigned acts need to put up with), Kaster were soundin good at this big old hall at the Students Union at Glasgow University. Quality venue for a gig. It was well suited to Kaster's sound. Cheers to all for comin along...

Thursday 14th September - Soundhaus

This proved to be a cool gig at the underground Soundhaus venue. The stage it was rickety, but the Kaster they were solid. Fresh from recording a new four track CD, Kaster were chappin at the bit for this one. 'Mine' made its next apearance after its debut at Barfly and an accoustic rendition at a rainy BBQ. Kaster also finished with the haunting rework of 'Tired'.

Thursday 17th August - Curlers

Man we were loving this gig at this intimate wee Glasgow venue. A rare chance for the Kaster faithful to get up close and personal with the boys. Matthew did his darndest to get up close and personal to our fellow act, The Darlings, but to no avail....

Barfly 30th June

A previous band outing to see the Bluetones at Barfly and knowing of the class acts who've passed through the doors in recent years, made this venue feel a bit special. Two other quality bands, the Schitzophonics and The Dials joined Kaster. The anthem 'Mine' written literally weeks before the gig, had a fresh energy and impacted immediately. A mixture of the class venue and receptive crowd made this by far the most accomplished set Kaster have played to date.

Madness 8th May

Having been approached through MySpace to gig @Madness, we agreed to play what seemed like an unusual unsigned venue. Despite the crowd having to arch their necks in an unnatural fashion just to see the band on a stage 15ft above the floor, Madness had a nice vibe on that sunny Monday night. Andy (bass) had some sound issues? well there was no sound, that was the issue?. But rather than bother anyone (such a nice chap) Andy decided just to play along silently and let us know after the gig of his technical mishap. Legend. Sound quality in the venue was great and it was only a lack of effort from the other bands to bring a crowd that took some shine off the night.

Furys 29th April

Holiday weekend @Furys promised to be a busy one but the Fox Street venue has seen bigger crowds. Another solid Kaster set showed our consistent improvement in the live environment, although the gig may be better remembered for Matthew's drunken sales pitch about the new Foundry Demo. Kaster sold 3 CD's that night tho. Thanks again for all the support.

Cathouse 16th April

Another Kingsonic event organised with precision saw 5 bands take to the stage. After the first act, the less said the better, the vibe chilled out somewhat as Placer, A True Story and of course Kaster set the mood for the showcase. New track 'Renew From Blue' opened the set, a revamped 'Anyway' had its debut, plus the usual classics rounded off another successful set appreciated by a sizeable crowd.

Tuesday 7th March - Rufus T. Firefly

A great wee gig held in the cosy Rufus T Firefly. As usual Kaster packed what was an intimate venue put on by PodBoy Records.

Thursday 15th December - The CatHouse

Kaster's second event promoted by Kingsonic. Kaster shared the bill with Austin, The Revivals and There Must Be Something... Thanks to all who came along.

And thanks as well to Kingsonic for their efforts in ensuring a smooth gig.

Tuesday 13th December - 2005 Battle of the Bands @ Crystals in East Kilbride

Crystals in East Kilbride was jammed with 400 people who came to see the best local talent in East Kilbride. Kaster scooped the top prize on the night.......ok, so we came second but we got the same prize as the band who came first so we got the top prize. OK!!

Congrats go to Nothing Yet who won on the night.

The two winning bands recieved two days recording in the Foundry Music Lab in Motherwell with award winning Wet Wet Wet producer Sandy Jones, famous for his work on the record breaking hit, 'Love is All Around'.

G2 - October 25th 2005

Tuesday hosted a mixed night for kaster. 47 Kaster-heeds came along to check us out at this venue based at local hot spot, The Garage. Kaster debuted new song 'Anyway' which went down a treat. Unfortunately also going down a treat was Colin's amp and Craig's snare midway through opener 'Real'. Minus snare and geetar the band battled on manfully, any tears that were shed were not picked up by the faithful legions.

The gig on the whole was a raging success, the sound quality and professionalism of the staff at G2, was unparalled. Thanks to all from Kingsonic Promotions for their help on the night.

VOX @ THE VALE - 22/09/05

The £1.50 pint attraction worked a treat as ever as many came along to support Kaster during what proved to be a successfull show. Kaster propped up what was probably the strongest line up we have shared a venue with to date. Some fantastic bands were on show including Merchant City fronted by a River City star. Can't remember his name now darn it.

Cheers to all who came along and filled the Vale, one of our favourite venues. The Kaster following put to shame the dissapointing turn out of support for the other bands.

VOX @ THE VALE - 20/07/05

Kaster were privileged to headline a strong line up of up and coming bands midweek July at the Vale venue in Glasgow. The loyal Kaster following were out in droves supporting the band as ever and had the chance to see the band performing in a more intimate venue than before.

Thanks so much to all who made the effort yet again to come and support us despite the fact that they were missing Big Brother. Seriously, thanks a lot for the continued support, we hope you all enjoyed the gig as much as we did.

Kaster 3 @ Fury Murrys - 10/06/05

Gig number three. With the Kaster band wagon in full flow, the band shook Furys again. This time opening with new track Iconic which was written only three days before the gig. Furys is establishing itself as one of the best venues in Glasgow for up and coming bands playing original music. The place was buzzing and the band enjoyed playing to such a large crowd. Unvbelievable thanks to all who keep supporting us and coming along.

Kaster 2 @ Fury Murrys - 02/04/05

After the success of their debut gig, Kaster were invited back to Fury Murrys. After a few technical hitches the gig on the whole was recieved extremely well again. Kaster debuted a new track called 'Real' at the expense of cult classic Sunlight.

Debut Gig @ Fury Murrys - 28/01/05

Kaster's first gig. After years (literally) of speculation, promise and lots of bullsh*t, Kaster finally burst onto the vibrant Glasgow gig scene. The venue of choice was Fury Murrys in Glasgow. An unbelievable amount of people showed up to support us and see what all the fuss was about. Feedback indicates that all were highly impressed and are looking forward to future gigs.
